Rituals and initiations are important—even essential—to moving through major life changes, and to validating the needs of your unconscious. The unconscious is a world of symbols, mythological resonance and archetypal knowledge. It responds, activates and hyper-energizes when it is recognized in rituals that "speak" its language.

As Jamie Sams says in Medicine Cards, "We are in an age that has severed itself from nature and magic." Ritual is a way for remedying that dissociation. Ceremony is a way for expressing gratitude through chants, rituals, and mutual experiences that invoke the sacred and divine within us.

We are in a time where the self is individuating from the tribal heritages, moving from third to fourth chakra energies, expanding its heart awareness and capacity into a "whole world" consciousness. It is able to tap into the collective unconscious and "remember" and resonate to the deep expressions of exerience that have always been part of human psychological life. In short, you are free to create your own rituals and find expression for your own psychological, emotional and spiritual needs through them!

The Healing Heart Ritual

Christ washed and annointed the feet of his disciples before he was crucified to mark this great transition and to honor his followers/friends with a rite of passage.

The Washing and Annointing of the Feet can be a significant and powerful way to mark a person's passage from part of a lifewalk to another. Graduation from high school, or getting a new job within a new vocational field, can be the kinds of momentous life events that can be marked by this ritual. Meet Your Mandorla!
This ritual experience involves creating a "mandorla," a medieval visionary device related to the more well-known mandala, but having special properties of its own as an inspirational healing and self-awareness device. We will work individually or in partnership to create a mandorla that encompasses issues central to the participants.

The mandorla is the central, almond-shaped space where two circles overlap. It is a form of sacred geometry that incorporates the Holy Grail myth and motifs from many estatic religious experiences and visions. By working with both the dark and light circles, and balancing them, a true center of Self is created and becomes the "eye of God," a place of deep, timeless, and abiding awareness.

The Transformation and Passage Ritual
This ritual will be developed in collaboration with a family on the passage of a loved one back to Great Spirit or the All. A Tibetan-based ritual can be used as a base for personalizing this experience, using thirteen sacred stones, chanting, drumming and singing bowls. Or we can can follow any suggestions you may have in creating a ritual that honors the intentions and spirit of the loved one who has passed.

The Red Tent Ritual
Many societies treat the beginning of menses, a woman's "first blood," in a young woman as a major event in her life and a signifciant experience for the entire community.

The Red Tent Ritual includes making a prayer bundle, a women's healing circle.
